Experience Details
Experience Oji’s magic with a day-to-night sakura and sake journey in a peaceful, hidden spot away from Tokyo’s crowds.
This exclusive Oji experience offers a calm alternative, just 12 minutes from the busy paths of Ueno. The magic of this tour comes from the changing light, from a serene afternoon to a stunning evening finale.
Begin at Hokutopia’s 17th-floor observation deck for a bird’s-eye view of Asukayama Hill, painted in soft cherry blossom pink. Guided by a National Government-Licensed Guide and sake expert, stroll along the cherry-lined Otonashi River, where the charm of Old Edo remains, and visit the 700-year-old Oji Shrine.
A highlight of the tour is a rare visit inside the Red Brick Brewery, a 120-year-old Meiji-era landmark usually closed to the public. Stand among original equipment and experience the history of traditional sake-making. Then walk through Asukayama Park, where the cherry trees planted by Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune still line the historic paths.
As the sun sets, enjoy a cozy, family-owned Izakaya loved by locals. A certified sommelier will guide you through five rare sakes, including “Hiei,” brewed with unique yeast from Asukayama soil, and the honey-like “Byakko” Kijoshu, paired with seasonal home-cooked dishes.
The tour concludes at the illuminated Otonashi River. At dusk, the “Yozakura” or night blossoms come alive, creating a magical atmosphere that is the perfect end to this memorable journey.
