The food was so good. Unless amounts of crab legs. Oysters, scallops, wagu beef and a wonderful and helpful staff. The place to indulge.

Such a special omakase experience! The space felt incredibly private, with a clean, minimalistic aesthetic that made the whole meal feel catered towards their audience. Every detail, from the presentation to the pacing of the course, was thoughtful, and you could really tell the focus was on letting the food quality speak for themselves. Definitely one of those places you go to slow down; highly recommended!

Today I had the opportunity to sit at the beautiful Kiso cypress counter at Ginza Sushi Yu (銀座 鮨 佑). Under the guidance of Head Chef Arito Seiki—a third-generation sushi chef—the kitchen operates on flawless biological timing. This isn't just tradition; it is decades of refined operational knowledge and generational Kaizen in action. It isn't just about premium sourcing from Toyosu Market—though securing top-tier cuts like Yamayuki akami (lean tuna) is a massive B2B advantage—it is about execution and temperature synchronization. The Lunch Course Highlights: 🐟 Yamayuki-sourced Akami 🔪 Aji (horse mackerel) meticulously scored and topped with a bright shiso, ginger, and scallion blend 🍣 Flawless seasonal cuts of Sawara (Spanish mackerel), Isaki (grunt), and Hotate (scallop) 🥢 Traditional Edomae finishes including Anago (conger eel), Tamagoyaki, and Kanpyo (dried gourd) The shari (rice) is meticulously maintained at human skin temperature to perfectly interact with the fats of the"

5/5 Stars – An Unforgettable, World-Class Omakase Experience! The culinary execution was outstanding, with the horse mackerel standing out as an absolute highlight of the meal. What truly elevated the experience, however, was our sushi chef. Not only did he serve a wonderful, masterfully crafted menu, but he also took the time to carefully explain the preparation, presentation, and cultural significance of each dish in both English and Japanese. I never expected to walk away from a sushi lunch having learned so much about fish and Japanese culture. Even before stepping inside, the team went above and beyond. When I got a bit lost and bypassed the entrance, the By Food staff were incredibly kind and responsive, quickly sending photos and the Google Maps link to guide me right to the door. This was hands-down the most engaging, educational, and fun experience I have ever had at a sushi restaurant in Japan. Exceptional food, brilliant hospitality, and a stunning venue. I cannot recommend By Foods enough as I never would have known about Ginza Sushiyu!

Hidden on a small street in Ginza, this sushi experience felt intimate, warm, and surprisingly personal. Perfect for couples, friends, or even visiting alone. I had the Omakase Lunch. The chef spoke English fluently, which honestly made the experience even more special since that’s still quite rare in Japan. He had such a positive and bubbly personality that the whole dinner felt entertaining, welcoming, and educational at the same time. I learned so much about Japanese fish and sushi culture throughout the course. My favorite pieces were definitely the maguro and sea bream both melted in my mouth so softly. They also had great drink options for alcohol lovers. I almost walked past the restaurant at first since it’s tucked away on a quieter street, but thanks to Google Maps and the big front window I found this hidden gem!

The staff and chef’s treatment was really important for me, it was my first time trying such a variety of sushi dishes and more. I must addanfor being my first time tasting fresh and true wasabi on sushi, I was not prepared for how spicy it felt but refreshing and tasty at the same time. Truly an unique experience, I’ll treasure the nice and special time on these meal that I had the pleasure to enjoy with my son.

We enjoyed an unique a nice experience in Sushi Ojima, the fresh tuna and different cuts were really delightful, as other dishes that were interesting and refreshing on the course. I truly appreciated that the selection on soft-drinks also allowed to enjoy traditional drinks that were unique to some regions, with a clear explanation, as well as their selection of alcoholic drinks as well. The elegant and simple atmosphere on the restaurant also was really enjoyable, the staff and chefs were really friendly and kind, taking time to explain in english each selection on the meals and their strong points to enjoy. I'll defenitely would come back again!

How does this place even make money with such value for the buffet . Blue fin tuna was the same grade as some 16000 yen omakase places. Absolutely worth it with the quality and choices

Had a wonderful dinner at Kappo Ginza Keiji. Honestly one of the most enjoyable meals I’ve had in Japan. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the simmeree anago liver and the Yunezawa beef stew. The Hida wagyu sukiyaki was so flavourful too. I thought the pairing was terrific, really complimenting the food. Beware, there is a LOT of alcohol involved should you choose the pairing!

Tsukiji is one of Tokyo’s most important culinary districts, long associated with seafood trading and professional food culture. While the wholesale fish market has moved, the Tsukiji outer market remains an active area filled with restaurants, specialty shops, and sushi counters. Tsukiji sushi restaurants reflect this heritage through a strong focus on freshness, simplicity, and technique.

Sushi restaurants in Tsukiji range from casual counters serving quick meals to more refined establishments offering omakase-style dining. Many chefs emphasize seasonal fish, clean flavors, and traditional Edo-style preparation. The close connection to seafood suppliers has shaped a dining culture where ingredient quality takes priority over elaborate presentation.

Dining at a sushi restaurant in Tsukiji offers insight into how sushi developed as everyday food for workers and merchants. Counter seating is common, allowing guests to observe knife work and preparation up close. Some restaurants focus on individual pieces served one by one, while others offer set menus that highlight a range of seafood styles.

Tsukiji sushi restaurants are often approachable for visitors, with clear menus and efficient service. The atmosphere tends to be practical and focused, reflecting the area’s working food culture. This makes Tsukiji a popular place to experience sushi in a setting closely tied to its origins.

byFood works directly with selected restaurants and hosts to introduce sushi dining experiences rooted in authenticity and market tradition. Choosing sushi restaurants in Tsukiji supports local businesses while experiencing one of Tokyo’s most influential food districts.
