We had such a great time on this tour and had so much wonderful food. Hannah G. was an excellent guide! We were especially appreciative of her knowledge of vegetarian options. Also, she shared great tips on eating vegetarian as we traveled and even recommended a signature dish for the next prefecture we were headed to. And the tea surprise to finish the tour was such a special experience. Highly recommended.

Aki took us to a part of Tokyo I would not have seen otherwise, down narrow streets packed with restaurants and bars, some of them under the train tracks. Delicious sake, sashimi, grilled meat, ramen and a friendly and personable host. Seeing a tiny bar with friendly customers was a highlight. Come very hungry!

Firstly, KT was great. Gregarious and a trooper for staying positive despite the heavy rain. We had missed the cancellation window, so I suppose the show had to go on. She also spoke English well! We walked around to a few street stands and older spots, learning about the area and ordering foods like dumplings and taiyaki along the way. We then took a respite towards the top of a tower that provided a wonderful panoramic view of the city. Next, we hit up Gotokuji Temple where we took in the neighborhood and learned about the shrines (and the cats and the monks!). Mercifully, the temple was not crowded during our visit, which made admiring the temple much easier even in the rain. We finished the tour with more food offerings, and we even got to part ways at a train station convenient to our route home. I highly recommend KT and this tour!

Explore Tokyo's Vibrant Pescetarian Food Scene

If you're a pescetarian and only have a day to explore the culinary landscape of Tokyo, you're in luck. Tokyo is a bustling metropolis that offers a myriad of food experiences for the discerning eater who emphasizes seafood and plant-based dishes. Our curated one-day tours are designed to immerse you in Tokyo's diverse culinary world with a special focus on pescetarian delights.

Imagine spending your day interweaving through vibrant fish markets to exotic seafood restaurants and cozy cafes serving seafood-infused local delicacies. Tokyo's food scene is ever-evolving, but the traditional reverence for seafood remains at its heart. Our pescetarian tours offer a perfect blend of traditional and modern Japanese flavors, crafted specifically for those who embrace seafood along with plant-based food options.

Pescetarian Culinary Tours in Tokyo

Start your journey in the early morning at the iconic Tsukiji Outer Market, where local vendors offer an array of fresh seafood and savoury snacks you won't find elsewhere. Stroll through the bustling stalls, sampling sushi, tempura, and other seafood specialties made from the freshest local ingredients. Each bite offers a taste of the sea, prepared with precision by Tokyo’s skillful vendors.

For lunch, head to a charming izakaya, a traditional Japanese pub, where you can savor dishes like grilled saury, miso-marinated sablefish, or mouth-watering unagi (eel) bowls. Each meal not only tantalizes the taste buds but also introduces you to the culture and tradition of Japanese dining.

Our one-day tours also include visits to local cafes that specialize in plant-based foods paired superbly with seafood offerings. Here, you can enjoy dishes such as tofu salad topped with fresh sashimi or cooling soba noodles served with a rich fish-based broth. For dessert, enjoy light treats made from matcha and bean pastes, offering a sweet conclusion to your pescetarian feast.

Cultural and Culinary Immersion

Aside from satisfying your appetite, these tours provide a cultural deep dive into Tokyo's way of life. As you meander through these culinary paths, gain insights from local guides who are passionate about sharing their knowledge of Tokyo's history and its unique relationship with food. These stories enrich your understanding while your taste buds relish the exquisite flavors.

Moreover, no day-tour is complete without experiencing the art of sushi making. Join a hands-on workshop where seasoned chefs guide you through creating your own sushi masterpieces. This immersive experience is not just about cooking; it’s about understanding the meticulous art form that sushi represents in Japanese culture.

By the end of the day, you would have not only savored some of the best pescetarian dishes Tokyo has to offer but also gained a deeper appreciation for the rich tapestry of flavors and cultural narratives that the city embodies.
