Our cooking class with Midori was absolutely fantastic and a truly unique experience! She was so warm and welcoming and took care of all our wishes. We learned so much about Japanese cooking, had a wonderful time in her kitchen, and the food was delicious. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Kyoto. Thank you so much, Midori! It was such a wonderful evening! Really, really recommend doing a tour with Hiroshi. He is so welcoming and knowledgeable. The walk around Gion was so interesting! He opened my eyes to so many details. The food was lovely and he kept it gluten free on request, which I appreciate so much! I would not have known what to order without his help. My friends and I enjoyed an incredible evening with Hiro on a food tour around Kyoto. He was gracious enough to accommodate two dietary restrictions for parts of our group - one pescatarian and one gluten-free in a four-person party - and picked restaurants that had plenty for all of us to enjoy. And beyond that, he was simply a lot of fun to be with and intensely knowledgeable about Kyoto, its history, and its culture. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our private food tour with Hiroshi. We ate and drank multiple delicious samples of food specialties of Kyoto. Hiroshi spoke English and answered our questions and had full knowledge of everything we tasted. He was flexible to take us to the food we were interested. We recommend! 👍🏽

Few experiences I’ve had in my life have been as exceptional from start to finish as this one. Our guide was an absolute treasure trove of knowledge, sharing fascinating insights into Kyoto’s food culture, traditions, and craftsmanship. Each stop offered an intimate, often private experience that went far beyond simply tasting products. We learned the stories behind them and gained a genuine appreciation for the care and skill that go into making them. The ponzu experience was a particular standout, as we each had the opportunity to create our own custom blend. What made the experience truly special was how every stop built upon the last, with us collecting ingredients along the way for a crescendo of a finale at the bar, where each ingredient came together and shone in its own right. It was thoughtful, immersive, and absolutely delicious. Of all the experiences we had during our 15 days in Japan, this was one of the defining highlights. If you’re visiting Kyoto, do yourself a favor and book this experience. You’d be doing yourself a disservice to miss it.
