"We would also like to thank you again very much, dear Miho-san, for this first glimpse into Japanese cuisine and culture. Your friendly, calm and humorous manner was very pleasant. Thank you also for your patience in answering all our questions. Many of the foods and their preparation that you showed us were completely new to us- but we found that very interesting. You had prepared so much for us- I personally quickly lost my fear of embarrassing myself. Thank you so much for that, Miho-san! Your cooking class was a wonderful day for us, one that we will always remember." (It`s a translation from german to english by Google) Marjana, Tino and Martin Gedlich

I had a great time learning how to make bento containing onigiri, karaage, tamagoyaki, along with some vegetables. I have very little experience with cooking, but Yuki-san was very patient and helpful, and made sure that I did most of the work myself so that I could properly learn the process. She explained the recipe for each part of the bento, how and where the recipe can vary between families, and why she makes the choices she does. She clearly has lots of experience and was able to condense it so that I could understand. The kitchen was very large and clean. It can easily hold multiple people at once. All of the ingredients were beautifully prepared ahead of time, along with printed copies of the recipes. After cooking all the food, Yuki-san helped me in preparing and decorating the bento box which I then ate out of to finish the day. The food was very good despite me making it. The flavors were very simple and delicate as Yuki-san explained is common in Japanese food. The food tasted very clean and fresh, even the fried karaage. Yuki-san is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about cooking and sharing her culture through food. Her English is very good and I was able to clearly understand and communicate with her. Her recipes are also very thoughtful and delicious. She even gave me a small gift of a Japanese-style kitchen towel before I left. I definitely would like to attend another of her classes again in the future, and would highly recommend attending!

We are still talking about our wonderful cooking experience with Chieko. Even though my wife grew up in a Japanese American home, Chieko taught us traditional methods we are anxious to try on our own. We took our teen granddaughter who loved the experience!

This was a great experience and well worth the 30 minute train journey from central Tokyo. We were met at the station and shown around the local food market before we went to cook. She had some pre-prepared items which required pickling or seasoning for a few days, so that we could have the full bento box making experience. It was an exceptional lesson, with some good information about the history of bento including as a side. Overall, it was a friendly, communal cooling experience, with some excellent food.
