We were seated right at the teppanyaki counter, directly in front of the grill. The room holds only a handful of seats, which makes the whole evening feel private and unhurried. The chef is warm and easy to talk to, the ingredients are clearly high quality, and every dish was delicious. A memorable evening from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Since I had made a reservation, a waiter quickly led us to a prepared room. Kani Doraku's crabs are consistently of high quality. Whether it's crab sashimi or a whole frozen crab, they are all very sweet and fresh. The only thing to note is that their waiters are not always around to help you. If you need anything, you must call them. They are very reluctant to send a waiter over.

Chef Makoto gave us a truly memorable evening at Teppanyaki Mitaki Akasaka. We came through a byFood reservation, and from the first course to the last, the quality of his ingredients and the skill in how he handled them made for a meal that was both delicious and remarkably well balanced. Our heartfelt thanks to Chef Makoto and the team. We recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

We had a great time and enjoyed the food . The ingredients were top quality and they were combined together to create great tasting sushi . The chef was very nice and fun to speak with and even gave us recommendations on where to get kitchen supplies. Overall a great experience.

An unassuming entrance that is genuinely hard to find, but a warm welcome the moment you step inside. Chef Makoto's technique and timing were remarkable throughout. The sesame tofu converted me on a dish I usually skip, and the Daisen chicken soup was outstanding, with real depth and a lovely thyme aroma. The tasting menu flowed beautifully from course to course, and the chef walked us through each local ingredient before it hit the plate. Good soft drink options too. The best meal we had in Japan. Incredibly well thought-out and perfectly prepared dishes that were balanced and delicious from start to finish. The staff were so accommodating and kind, using google translate to pass on their knowledge and interact with us. A traditional dining experience that I will never forget.

This was my first kaiseki experience, and it did not disappoint. I had a lunch reservation at the counter, which allowed me to observe the chefs assemble each dish with care and precision. Every course was beautifully presented and genuinely delicious. Some of the flavor combinations were unlike anything I had tasted before, making the meal feel special. The portion size for lunch was also surprisingly generous, and I left completely satisfied. The space itself is cozy and intimate, with a traditional feel. There are only 6 counter seats, and you remove your shoes at the entrance, which immediately sets the tone for an authentic and immersive experience. One thing worth noting for non-Japanese speakers: the service is conducted entirely in Japanese. It was not a barrier to enjoying the meal, but it was a shame not being able to ask questions about each dish or fully follow the conversations. Overall, Oryori Hayashi is a must-visit for anyone curious about kaiseki. I would love to return if given the chance — highly recommended!
