I had the absolute pleasure of attending the fermentation class today! It was incredibly eye-opening to see how knowledge of miso and other traditional elements can be beautifully applied to everyday cooking. From appetizers and mains to desserts, I was truly amazed by the versatility of these fermented ingredients. The instructor was exceptionally patient and attentive, taking the time to answer all of my questions with great care. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to elevate their culinary journey and experience the true magic of fermentation!

This is the best class for anyone who loves cooking. It is also a new and fun class for those who don't like cooking. Also, this cafe, which hosts this tour, is very friendly and caring to everyone. It has various souvenirs made with kome rice, and it is a very nice cafe that is eco-friendly. I will try to make onigiri in the way they taught me. If you go to Tokyo, Japan, you should definitely take this class. Not only will you have fun, you can also eat your own delicious onigiri. この店最高 :)

We thoroughly enjoyed the miso making class. Sae-san and the others were so welcoming and knowledgable. They explained everything in detail and loved the "hands on" class for both of us. After we made the miso, we loved being offered to taste different misos and the amakaze. They served us miso soup so that we could tast 2 of the different types of miso. It was interesting how differrent they all tasted. We also both loved the hojicha and match flavors of amakaze and the rice cookies were delicious. It was a cute shop and will definitely go back for a visit the next time we are in Tokyo. Can't wait to make some miso at home! We need to keep the Japanese traditions going. Highly recommend this class. Five stars!

I mostly enjoyed the Miso Making workshop and everyone there was absolutely lovely. However our teacher was more of a translator than knowledgeable in the art of Miso making and so questions slightly above surface level where hard to get an answer to. Fortunately part of the workshop is an Amazake taste test and that washed all of my frustrations away.

This was a fantastic experience!! The shop is cute and quaint and on the street to Tokyo Tower and on the way to Zojoji temple. Our host was very informative on how miso is made and the different types of miso. It was fun and challenging to make our own miso. We got to taste different misos at the end and had miso soup. We also did some Amazake (a sweet fermented rice drink) tasting because they have it there at the shop as well. I loved everyone at the shop and the experience. This is a MUST if you really want to experience true Japanese products, hospitality, and generosity.

We had a wonderful and truly unique experience at Masaho's sushi class. While eating at a sushi restaurant is great, the sushi we made ourselves tasted even more special. Masaho was incredibly kind and patient throughout the entire class. Not only did she gently guide us through the process, but she also spoke excellent English and taught us about the history of sushi and what everyday life in Japan is like. Instead of being in an office room, we made sushi in an authentic Japanese house. This gave us a wonderful glimpse into the daily life of a Japanese family. From start to finish, we had a fantastic time with Masaho. We would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants an authentic Japanese experience.

It was such a great experience. Such a great, and easy to find, location. The lesson was hands on and they spoke great English and even gave us a printed recipe to take home. We also loved the little gift shop attached and how they gave us a beautiful gift at the end. Can't wait for my Miso to ferment and eat! Highly recommend this experience.

Such a fun experience! The team really made us feel welcome and were very engaging, very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing their skills. We had a lot of questions which they were happy to answer and we left feeling really inspired to continue learning about traditional Japanese culinary methods. Have already recommended the class to some other friends and we can't wait to come back again in the future!

Experience the rich culinary culture of Tokyo with an exciting twist. If you’re a fan of miso soup and have been longing to delve deeper into the craft of Japanese vegetarian cuisine, these classes in Tokyo are the perfect opportunity. The classes offer a hands-on approach to mastering miso soup, a staple in Japanese dining, and ensure that your diet preferences are well-catered for with a variety of vegetarian ingredients. You will learn from skilled chefs who will guide you through the art of creating the perfect balance of flavors while using solely plant-based ingredients for your meals. Opening the doors to Tokyo’s vibrant food culture, these classes not only offer a look into traditional Japanese cooking techniques but also inspire creativity in using locally sourced, fresh vegetables and plant-based substitutes that embody Tokyo's innovation in vegetarian cuisine.

Why Choose Vegetarian Miso Soup Classes in Tokyo?

Tokyo is renowned for its seamless blend of traditional and contemporary cuisines. These vegetarian classes are tailored to those who appreciate the delicate umami flavors and health benefits of miso soup but prefer a meal that respects their vegetarian lifestyle. Miso soup, traditionally made with a stock called dashi, often includes fish elements. These classes uniquely adapt the recipe to be entirely vegetarian, retaining all the flavors and nutritional benefits. You'll explore the use of different types of miso, such as white, yellow, and red, and understand how each contributes to the soup’s richness. Moreover, you’ll learn about alternative dashi-making ingredients, utilizing kombu seaweed or dried shiitake mushrooms, and how other vegetarian ingredients like tofu, seaweed, and seasonal vegetables can elevate your dish. These experiences are not just about cooking but understanding the harmony and simplicity that defines Japanese culinary philosophy.

What You Can Expect from These Unique Cooking Classes

When you enroll in one of Tokyo's vegetarian miso soup cooking classes, expect a holistic experience. These classes go beyond just a cooking demonstration. Participants are encouraged to engage with the techniques, such as miso paste preparation, by grinding soybeans and fermenting them if the class schedule allows it. You'll learn about the importance of each ingredient and how traditional Japanese practices can be adopted using vegetarian-friendly substitutions. Small group sizes ensure individual attention and provide opportunities to ask in-depth questions and receive personalized feedback from your instructors. By the end of the class, not only will you have enjoyed making and tasting delicious miso soup, but you will also leave with the skills and knowledge to recreate it at home. Whether you're a local or a traveler eager to embrace Tokyo’s vegetarian offerings, these classes are a beautiful gateway into the world of Japanese vegetarian cooking, a treasure trove for food lovers.
