A truly memorable dinner! The course is themed around the history of life on Earth, so each dish is named after a different era, like the “birth of the ocean” or “fluorishing of mammals. The theme carries through everything, down to the cutlery and how each plate is served.
The food mixes Latin flavors with Japanese ingredients like mochi, which isn’t a combination you come across often in Japan. My favorite part was the textures. Each dish felt different, and I never quite knew what to expect next.
It’s dark and cozy inside, but the lighting makes the food stand out even more. The staff explained the idea behind each dish in English, which helped me appreciate what I was eating.
One thing to know: portions are on the small side, so if you have a big appetite, you might not leave completely full.
A good pick for a birthday, anniversary, or special night out, or if you just want to try something different in Ginza.

"I've been to a lot of restaurants with course menus, but this was unlike anything I've experienced before. It was a true culinary journey as well as a journey through time! Every dish was beautifully presented, incredibly flavorful, and full of interesting combinations of ingredients and textures. You could definitely taste the South American influences, which made the experience even more unique.
One of my favorite courses was The Flourishing of Mammals — Primates, which featured mochi and had such a lovely combination of textures and wonderful flavors. I also really enjoyed the main course. Even the cutlery rests were interesting, including one made from bones!
The dessert was perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which was a lovely way to finish the meal. Overall, it was a really creative and memorable dining experience, with surprising flavors and thoughtful details throughout."

This was the highlight of our trip to Kanazawa. The food was excellent in taste and so beautifully presented it seemed like art. The atmosphere was amazing -- a Japanese wooden house set in a beautiful garden with windows all around. And the service was great, friendly and attentive. This was a definite winner. Do this!

The sushi was exceptional, with fresh, high-quality fish sourced from different regions of Japan. Every piece was carefully prepared, highlighting the fish’s natural umami and unique texture. The homemade pickled ginger was delicious, egg custard with crab was magnificent and the service was impeccable, with friendly staff who explained each dish. The peaceful atmosphere and traditional Japanese tea room made the entire experience truly special along with homemade delicious mochis. Highly recommended for an authentic omakase experience in Tokyo!

How to reserve restaurants in Japan?
You can make a reservation at a restaurant in Japan by direct phone call to the restaurant, or in some cases via direct reservation on their website if available. There also are some online reservation platforms but they are often in Japanese, like the restaurant’s website. To avoid the issue of language barriers and time differences, you can place your reservation through a secure platform that helps foreigners to make online reservations, such as byFood. You can use byFood to add filters and narrow down restaurants in Japan, to match the location and food type you are looking for. All you have to do is head to your desired restaurant page and enter your reservation details. If your reservation is successful, you will receive an email confirmation and have your reservation made on your behalf. In the event that the reservation was not successful, you will receive a failed reservation email notification.
Is a reservation required for restaurants in Japan?
Not all restaurants in Japan require a reservation but there are many that do, so this depends on the restaurant. Popular or high-end restaurants generally require a reservation and tend to be totally booked a few months ahead. Some more casual restaurants, bars, and cafes do not require a booking, however if you are with a big group it can be a good idea. Some restaurants like ramen restaurants and izakaya gastropubs do not allow reservations ahead of time.
What is the average cost of a meal at restaurants in Japan?
This depends on the type of restaurant but on average a meal at restaurants in Japan will cost somewhere between 800 yen and 3000 yen for one dish or set meal. More high-class restaurants can start from anywhere between 4000 and 10,000 yen per meal, with more being charged for dinner.
