Kosoan Tea House is a Japanese traditional folk house cafe where you can have a calm and relaxing time with matcha tea and wagashi.
Restaurant Details
Once you walk into their Japanese garden, you’ll feel like you’ve time-traveled back to Japan’s Showa period. Kosoan Tea House was opened in 1954, and spending time at this Jiyugaoka cafe will definitely make you feel nostalgic.
One of the signatures here is authentic matcha tea with wagashi (Japanese sweets) for 900 yen. Besides that, they have matcha shiratama zenzai, anmitsu, coffee, ichigo milk (strawberry milk), iced cappuccino, and matcha au lait.
If you visit Kosoan Tea House around summertime, you won’t want to miss their summer menu item: kakigori (Japanese shaved ice). They have shiratama-uji-kintoki (Uji matcha syrup with red beans and shiratama-mochi) and lemon flavors.
You can also look around at their Japanese antiques such as traditional dolls and old pictures. Inside the Kosoan Tea House, time passes slowly; it’s easy to forget you’re in the city! If you are looking for Japanese traditional cafe in Jiyugaoka where you can have a relaxing time, Kosoan would be the place for you.
