Matsukawa
This kaiseki dining restaurant raises the bar for elite eateries with its extreme privacy and unconventional, one-of-a-kind creations.
Restaurant Details
Matsukawa is an exclusive, invitation-only restaurant that offers traditional dishes made of the highest quality ingredients. Located near the U.S. embassy and Hotel Okura Tokyo, the restaurant is considered one of the best in the whole country and it has a waiting list of three months. Even though Matsukawa can't be found in the Michelin Guide, due to its private and exclusive aspirations, you can rest assured that it is deserving of a star (or three).
It’s a rather small restaurant that has 6 counter seats and 3 private rooms, welcoming the guests with a classic and elegant Japanese atmosphere. Mr. Tadayoshi Matsukawa, the chef, received his training from famous Japanese restaurants around the country, resulting in his collection of complex techniques and refined skills. He personally chooses the freshest ingredients every day, building a unique omakase set course menu which can change day to day.
If you're lucky, you might have the opportunity to taste rare dishes such as “iimushi” steamed rice with crab meat and beluga caviar, grilled sweetfish, and soba in an ice bowl. It’s certain that Matsukawa will offer you an unforgettable experience.
