Chiba Prefecture’s two best-known landmarks are Disneyland and Narita Airport, both which are usually attributed to its more famous neighbor, Tokyo! The capital might love to steal Chiba’s thunder at every opportunity, but one thing it can’t steal is this excellent sushi restaurant.
Among the top restaurants in Chiba’s vibrant and diverse food scene, Sushi Takaoka is the project of a young chef who has made a name for himself around Japan. The light wooden interior of his store has an incredibly clean and fresh feeling, setting the tone for the series of fresh fish cuts he presents to his guests.
Ginza may be the home of great sushi, but Takaoka-san proves that you don’t have to fight for a seat in Tokyo to experience world-class sushi. When you try his cuts of fatty tuna — an almost impossibly deep, rich shade of red — you’ll surely agree.
