Restaurant Details
A lingering scent of autumn seems to pervade the walls of this restaurant; probably thanks in part to the leaf-grilled wagyu beef that diners flock from central Tokyo to enjoy. Located deep within the scenic forests of Mt. Takao, Ukai Chikutei offers luxury course menus with a satisfying selection of woodland delicacies, with the most notable being its famous beef hoba-yaki (beef grilled on magnolia leaf) and bamboo wine.
However, Ukai Chikutei is set apart not just by its exclusive location, but by the intimate service and singular attention given to guests who elect to enjoy the chef’s special private course. This ultra-premium dining experience is elevated above a typical omakase service by giving guests the chef’s full attention, putting his craft on display just inches away across the counter.
Another highlight? This space offers iwaizen cuisine — dishes for celebratory events — like osechi at New Year’s for those hosting special events in the area. Two-tiered bento in sets of two or more can be ordered for hikers who want to put a little glamp in their camp.
