Yoshiko was a great guide. We did so much in the short time we had together. She was so nice and eager to share the history of Uji and matcha with us.

We are so grateful for this experience. We wanted to make some nerikiri back at home, and we felt this was a very good and complete first step into this world. Before the class, we asked to make the sakura and momiji because we really wanted to try them, and Nariko had no problem adapting to our requests. During the class, we made five models: two chrysanthemums (the second one was really difficult), one sakura, one momiji, and one bunny, because it was Tsukimi. Although the second chrysanthemum was quite challenging, it turned out pretty good, and with a bit more practice, the small petals will surely look even better. Nariko’s explanations were very helpful — at first it seemed difficult, but we got used to it, and the nerikiri turned out quite good for our first time making them. Nariko is a really fun and kind person, and I would absolutely love to learn more from her again in the future!

We had an excellent time learning to make nerikiri with Nariko. She was well-prepared and very knowledgeable, and she was able to teach students with a variety of experience levels. It was an excellent class, and the results were both beautiful and delicious.

We had a great experience with our host Kaori. We enjoyed learning about the tea ceremony tradition as well as being instructed on how to make our own matcha tea. This was a fun experience!

Our host, Kaori, was very nice and friendly. She patiently explained the steps for all the participants when it was their turn and answered any questions we had. It was very cool that apart from the actual tea ceremony experience, she also introduced us to some of the history behind tea ceremonies. My partner and I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to experience a tea ceremony in a traditional building in Kyoto.

We had the best time, our tea ceremony instructor was very kind and explained the tea ceremony in detail and allowed us to do our own mancha. Our kids had a great time.

It was my first time making this kind of sweet. It was a bit complicated, especially the latter parts. However, Nariko-san gave us very detailed demos and informative notes for each step which helped us create and finish each Nerikiri. I recommend trying this experience out!

The tea ceremony was a delightful experience. Our hostess was incredibly knowledgeable about the art of tea preparation, and she guided us in making our own matcha using the techniques she taught. We were so inspired that we purchased a matcha whisk and matcha powder afterward to continue practicing at home.

Kaori provided a lovely and thorough demonstration of a traditional tea ceremony, answered all of our questions, and guided us through the process on our own. The google map link provided on booking was helpful for navigation. When we got to the location, within 5 mins ahead of our reservation time as requested in the confirmation no one was at the front and there was a sign on the door instructing to meet across the alley. When we went there we were instructed to go back, so that was a little confusing but all in all, a good experience.

Would highly recommend the Nerikiri making class with Nariko. Super experienced in the kitchen, great with people, obviously loves what she's doing. Our sweets turned out even better then expected.

Try matcha soba noodles for an earthy twist on a Japanese classic, or indulge in matcha-flavored rice crackers, which add a distinctive flavor to any meal. For those with a sweet tooth, matcha desserts such as ice cream and sponge cakes offer a unique blend of bitterness and sweetness that matcha lovers crave. The city's dedication to this green gem ensures every foodie will have a memorable experience.

Discover the historic Nishiki Market, where you can explore stalls overflowing with seasonal produce and seafood straight from Japan's bountiful waters. With the guidance of expert chefs, visitors can hone their skills in crafting authentic Japanese cuisine while ensuring that no dietary preference is left unconsidered. For a serene experience, enjoy a full course meal at a tea house where matcha is paired with each dish to enhance your tasting adventure. Every experience in Kyoto is thoughtfully curated to meet the expectations of both taste and tradition.
