We had the privilege of taking the Melon Pan class with Satomi-san! I was deeply impressed by her professionalism from the beginning. She was always in constant communication with me and gave detailed information about the class and directions to her home. Satomi-san was very knowledgeable not only about the process of baking, but in the science of the ingredients! As a teacher and baker. I appreciated this information! We spent the wait times, (while the bread was proofing), chatting and getting to know each other— which made the experience much more meaningful! As a lifetime learner, I found the entire experience to be amazing! If you ever want to learn and grow as a baker, please take her class, follow her on IG, or on YouTube. Thank you so much Satomi-san!

The Yakitori cooking class with Michiko Numato was an amazing experience and exceeded our expectations! I am a Japanese Canadian tourist and always wanted to learn how to cook Yakitori. Although there were other cooking classes, we chose Michiko since the class was taught in her home kitchen and provided a true home cooking experience that gave me the confidence to be able to cook Yakitori in our own kitchen. Michiko is very knowledgeable and a wonderful teacher. Her patience and enthusiasm has provided a novice cook like myself the motivation to cook as soon as we return home from our vacation. Indeed, Michiko is passionate about Japanese food and enjoys teaching others how to cook! We will recommend her to our friends and relatives who will travel to Japan and we will try Michiko’s other classes on our next vacation!

Chef Chiaki is a very personable trainer who met us on time at the agreed point; despite what she says, she is proficient in English which made it a lot easier too. She demonstrated a good knowledge of the products we were going to use, and what may be available in Australia. She was able to tell us which alternatives could be available (if the originals are not). The Udon noodles were so easy to make, and it was all over oh-so-quickly. Thank you Chiaki for a lovely and educational morning.

I had a great time learning how to make bento containing onigiri, karaage, tamagoyaki, along with some vegetables. I have very little experience with cooking, but Yuki-san was very patient and helpful, and made sure that I did most of the work myself so that I could properly learn the process. She explained the recipe for each part of the bento, how and where the recipe can vary between families, and why she makes the choices she does. She clearly has lots of experience and was able to condense it so that I could understand. The kitchen was very large and clean. It can easily hold multiple people at once. All of the ingredients were beautifully prepared ahead of time, along with printed copies of the recipes. After cooking all the food, Yuki-san helped me in preparing and decorating the bento box which I then ate out of to finish the day. The food was very good despite me making it. The flavors were very simple and delicate as Yuki-san explained is common in Japanese food. The food tasted very clean and fresh, even the fried karaage. Yuki-san is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about cooking and sharing her culture through food. Her English is very good and I was able to clearly understand and communicate with her. Her recipes are also very thoughtful and delicious. She even gave me a small gift of a Japanese-style kitchen towel before I left. I definitely would like to attend another of her classes again in the future, and would highly recommend attending!

Tokyo, a bustling city that seamlessly combines tradition and innovation, offers an array of culinary experiences that reflect its rich cultural heritage. Among the most rewarding experiences you can immerse yourself in are the Japanese Home Cooking Classes. Set in the comfort of a home-like environment, these classes provide a unique opportunity to learn from local chefs and home cooks, gaining insight into everyday Japanese dishes that are both delicious and simple to prepare. Tokyo is peppered with such experiences, each offering a heartfelt exchange of culture through food.

These classes are perfect for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of Japan's culinary traditions by learning how to create authentic dishes. Participants will learn how to make popular home-style meals such as miso soup, sushi rolls, and tempura. Ingredients commonly used in Japanese cooking, such as mirin, soy sauce, and miso paste, will be explored, and you will gain the skills needed to source the freshest produce. This is an ideal way for travelers to not only learn about the techniques behind these meals but also the cultural significance each dish holds.

Learn from Experts in Authentic Settings

Japanese Home Cooking Classes in Tokyo offer a hands-on journey guided by seasoned professionals who have honed their skills over years. Each class is structured to introduce you to the fundamental cooking techniques employed in Japanese kitchens. Starting with the essentials, you will practice preparing dishes using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. Whether it's the delicate balance required for perfect dashi broth or the intricate art of knife handling for sashimi, these classes are an educational feast.

Depending on the class, sessions can range from intimate groups in private home kitchens to slightly larger classes in dedicated cooking studios. This setting not only makes the experience enjoyable but also provides a comfortable learning environment where you can freely ask questions and engage with knowledgeable hosts. The classes often conclude with a communal meal where everyone partakes in the dishes prepared, fostering a sense of camaraderie and cultural exchange.

More Than Just Cooking: A Cultural Experience

These classes are adaptable to all skill levels, meaning you don't need to be a culinary expert to sign up. They also cater to dietary preferences and restrictions, ensuring everyone can partake and enjoy. At the end of the session, you will have acquired not only new skills but also a collection of recipes that you can recreate, bringing a taste of Japan's home-cooked warmth to your own kitchen.
