Experience Details
The Ultimate Shizuoka Tea Tour with Tea Farm Visit and Cafe Tour combines two fun and exciting tea tours! Go behind the scenes and learn how tea is farmed and processed during the tea farm tour, then you’ll get to experience tea at various unique cafes in Shizuoka and learn about brewing techniques and serving styles. If you’re a tea lover, there’s no better place to visit than Shizuoka, the scenic prefecture which produces over 40% of Japan’s tea! First, during the tea farm tour, you will travel to a farm that’s hidden in the mountains of Shizuoka, overlooking the prefecture and all of its stunning natural beauty. After taking in the gorgeous, mountainous landscape and walking among the tea bushes, you will enjoy a tasting of several types of Japanese tea, try your hand at picking tea leaves and meet the farmers (if available). You can also visit the tea processing factory (closed on Wednesdays and weekends). Next, your guide will show you several of their favorite traditional and modern Shizuoka tea cafes. Learn about Japanese cafe culture through the ages, and experience both old-school and innovative methods of making and enjoying tea. You’ll also get a chance to try types of tea from other regions of Japan and have a hands-on experience where you make tea for yourself. And for dessert, there’s a little something special: Japanese tea gelato!

Halfway between Tokyo and Kyoto, Shizuoka City is known for stunning natural scenery, including views of Mt. Fuji. Located along the Pacific coast, Shizuoka’s fishing industry is booming, with Shimizu Port hauling in the most tuna out of any port in Japan while Suruga Bay is one of the only places in the world where sakura shrimp can be found. Meanwhile, Sunpu Castle Park in central Shizuoka is famous as the place of retirement of Tokugawa Ieyasu, one of the three unifiers of Japan.
