Experience Details
The biggest fish market in Tokyo is the famous Toyosu Fish Market, but another lesser-traveled Tokyo fish market is Adachi Fish Market. Fish undeniably makes up an important part of the Japanese diet and flavors in Japanese cuisine. Enjoy an authentic morning market experience in Tokyo, not far to the north of the traditional Asakusa district, the energetic and vibrant Adachi Fish Market is alive each morning with colorful rows of all kinds of seafood products, some which you’ve possibly never seen before. Join this Local Tokyo Fish Market Tour and Nigiri Making Class to explore the Adachi Fish Market with a local guide, and then head back to a cooking studio to learn how to make delicious nigiri sushi yourself. In amongst locals shopping for fruits, vegetables, fish, and pickles, Adachi Fish Market is orientated towards locals and is not as touristy as its bigger Tokyo fish market counterparts. During this Local Tokyo Fish Market Tour and Nigiri Making Class, you’ll wander through this wholesale fish market with insight from a local guide. For an even more local experience, you’ll be surrounded by fishermen, buyers, and restaurant employees, it’s a busy market where you’ll also witness an awesome tuna cutting demonstration. Next, you’ll head back to the cooking studio to enjoy a sushi making class of nigiri sushi. This is a typical type of sushi that uses hand-pressed rice topped with an ingredient of your choice. Bite-sized and simple, you’ll learn how to perfectly mix vinegar into the rice and learn the best rice-shaping techniques. Topped with your favorite ingredient, whether it be seafood or a meaty protein (or something vegetarian), you’ll enjoy eating a delicious sushi feast at the end of your class! You’ll also make a gunkan-maki sushi, which is a battleship-shaped sushi, topped with tasty fish eggs!
