We enjoyed learning to cook Okinawan healthy dishes like Stir-fried cut combu, Goya champura and Shiraae from Rina. She gave each of us various tasks from prepping to cooking. We were amazed to see our finished dishes looking "instagram" worthy to post. Especially after plating in our bento boxes. We loved and enjoyed eating our lunch bento!

Cooking with Rina was truly fantastic. Her home was perfect for the occasion – cozy, welcoming, and ideal for a culinary experience. Rina explained everything clearly and patiently, demonstrating each step slowly while sharing interesting details about the ingredients, why they are important, and how they benefit our health. In addition to the cooking, she also told us a lot about Okinawa, its culture, and food traditions, which added a special depth to the experience. At the end, we all sat down together and enjoyed everything we had prepared – and it was delicious! Rina is a wonderful and patient teacher who made this experience truly special and unforgettable. We also took home the recipes, which will definitely come in handy. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for more than just a cooking class – this was a real experience! Thanks a lot. The Private Cooking Class was a heartwarming and tasty experience on one of our last days in Okinawa! We loved chatting and cooking with Rina and hearing stories about how her grandmother inspired her on this journey 🫶🏻 Our toddler daughter was also warmly welcomed, even though it was challenging to have her around at times! Thank you Rina for your patience and your big heart 🧡 We’re hoping to meet you again in the future.

We had so much fun taking Rina's cooking class. Excellent cooking materials and everything was very well organized. The food was delicious, and we got to take the recipes home. Would definitely recommend if you want more insight on Okinawan cuisine and ingredients, and more generally if you love cooking.

Discover the Flavors of Okinawa

Nestled in the southernmost part of Japan, Okinawa is a paradise not just for its serene beaches and vibrant culture, but also for its unique culinary delights. Okinawa food experiences offer a rich tapestry of flavors that reflect the islands’ distinct cultural heritage, blending influences from Asia, America, and native Okinawan traditions. Whether you crave the famous Okinawa soba, or the island's unique spin on classic Japanese dishes, this is your ultimate destination to savor delectable and healthy dishes. Join us on a culinary adventure in Okinawa and immerse yourself in an unforgettable journey of flavors.

A Taste of Tradition

Okinawa prides itself on its culinary traditions that have been passed down through generations. One of the signature dishes you must try is Okinawa Soba. Unlike the typical soba found across Japan, Okinawa Soba features thick wheat noodles served in a rich, savory broth topped with succulent pork belly, fish cake, and green onions. This dish is a beloved staple of Okinawan cuisine and offers a hearty meal full of flavor and nutrition.

Another traditional delight is Goya Champuru, a stir-fried dish featuring bitter melon, tofu, and pork or spam. This dish is not only delicious but also renowned for its health benefits, as bitter melon is high in nutrients and boasts numerous health benefits. Enjoy the blend of textures and the signature savory and slightly bitter taste that has become a local favorite.

Innovative Culinary Creations

Okinawa's culinary scene is not confined to traditional dishes. The island also offers innovative modern takes on classic dishes, reflecting its historical influences and creative spirit. Experience unique fusions like Okinawa Taco Rice, a dish born from the fusion of local rice and flavors from the American military bases, featuring ground beef, fresh tomatoes, cheese, and lettuce layered over a bed of fluffy rice. This innovative dish provides a taste of both American and Japanese comfort foods.

For dessert, don't miss the chance to try Chinsuko, a traditional Okinawan biscuit with a crumbly texture and sweet flavor, often enjoyed with a cup of jasmine tea. Alternatively, Sata Andagi, a type of Okinawan doughnut, offers a sweet and satisfying treat that will leave you craving more.

Each food experience in Okinawa tells a story of cultural harmony, creativity, and the islanders' zest for life. Whether you're indulging in traditional dishes or trying out modern creations, Okinawa offers a food adventure like no other. Come explore Okinawa's diverse food experiences and let your taste buds embark on an exotic journey.
