I really enjoyed this cooking experience with these two lovely women. The meal we prepared was delicious and I learned a lot about japanese food. Especially the miso tasting I really liked. Also the tea ceremony, I enjoyed it very much. Much more personal and detailed than in any tourist spot. Thank you for these precious moments.

I had an incredible time learning authentic Nagoya home cooking! Unlike other classes where you just watch and eat, this was completely hands-on, which made a huge difference. Yuko-san and her family were so welcoming that the evening felt more like a warm family gathering than a formal lesson. If you want to experience the true heart of Nagoya’s food culture beyond just sitting in a restaurant, this is the perfect way to do it. I will definitely be making that tebasaki when I get back home!

Myself, my husband, and my teenage son enjoyed this tour thoroughly. Masa-san along with two other guides were so warm and knowledgeable. It was no doubt one of our top highlights of our Japan trip. We laughed so much because everybody were so happy and had such a great sense of humor. We laughed through matcha and miso and lunch and castle and history. We learned so much and had so much fun doing it. Such a wonderful place with such kind people. I hope to come back with my daughter soon! Thank you so much Masa-san and your colleagues!!! 🙏

We enjoyed a wonderful tour visiting nishio with all the highlights such as a matcha factory tour, making matcha, visiting tea fields, traditional lunch in a traditional japenese restaurant, a miso factory and making our own miso, the castle and a japanese tea house. Masa was the best tour guide accompanied by a member of the tourism center of nishio. They were very friendly, experienced and welcoming. We learned so much about japan and all the specialities of nishio and can truly recommend booking this tour. It is a highlight of our trip to japan and we will always remember this day.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a more personalised experience. My husband and I were travelling with our 3 young adult daughters. We are all "foodies", and my daughters are very keen on Matcha. We had looked at other tours offered in more "touristy" regions such as Kyoto and Uji. The Nishio tour was far better value for money and avoided the crowds. This took us to a region in Japan that we might not have looked at without being drawn there by the Matcha tour. This tour gives a detailed look at Matcha production from farm to finished product. It's very informative and wonderful opportunity to purchase high grade product. It also provides instruction on how to correctly make Matcha tea, with a knowledgeable teacher. The extra bonus of this tour is the visit to the Miso producer. The generations old Miso barrels and learning about its production, then being able to take the finished product home. The price of the tour also included a delicious, quality, Japanese lunch. They also managed to squeeze in some sightseeing and history of the area, with a quick museum visit and another tea and sweets in a traditional teahouse. There is so much included in this tour to mention it all. Through all of this we were expertly guided by our two welcoming, friendly, very knowledgeable local guides. They were very patient and flexible and clearly enjoyed being able to share the best of Nishio with us. We wish we had time to explore more of the Nishio region.

Hosts Iwase, Kobayashi and Hozumi were extremely hospitable, professional and knowledgeable. All employees, including the showroom and restaurant staff, warmly welcomed us upon our arrival and created a comfortable, inviting, family-like environment throughout the tour. Host Iwase and Kobayashi spoke English which was quite helpful. We were able to experience the authentic tea leaf picking attire during the tea farm experience and Mr. Kobayashi graciously offered to help us take photos and videos. Nakano Sensei guided us through the Aoi Seicha factory sharing with us a wealth of information about matcha and allowed each of us the opportunity to participate in the actual tea leaf grinding that produces matcha powder. We were quite impressed by Nakano Sensei’s tea ceremony lesson and tea tasting. This was not only a beautiful cultural experience but also a fun, educational event our whole family thoroughly enjoyed. Many thanks for a wonderful and memorable day.

Grandma Junko and her assistant, Chikako, were very lovely. Grand Junko was very thorough with her instructions. She brought out different miso paste to try and explained which paste belong to which region in Japan. We learned to make one soup, one rice dish (two ways to make onigiri) and 3 side dishes (gomae, Nagoya miso chicken and tamagoyaki) Even though the kitchen was small, they run a tight ship and were very big on hygiene. Chikako cleans every plate right away and the table is consistently wiped down. After we finished the meal, Grandma Junko taught us the way of having a tea ceremony. I really like the relaxed environment. She taught us how to clean the tools to make tea and the brewing process. We really appreciate their patience and are grateful for them to share the knowledge of Japanese home cooking. Thank you Chikako for taking our pictures. Thank you Grandma Junko for sharing your love of cooking.
