An excellent tour by a very knowledgeable guide. Simon met us at the train station and we headed to one of the oldest breweries in the area. The sake tour and tasting was excellent and we learned a lot about different types of sake and how they are made.Highly recommended this tour!

It's an exceptional opportunity for every foodie to watch, how mochi is pounding. Even more so to participate in it! We really enjoyed the interesting insights, and discovering the whole process – not to mention the unique deliciousness of the fresh mochi. We could even try four different types of it! The organisation of the whole event was very smooth: easy communication, clear itinerary, friendly and nice hosts, professional chef by the soup making (actually, it was a complete lunch), lot of further tips and informations on the traditional Japanese cuisine. Marie, our host is actually an advocate of the fermentation and traditional way of cooking ("washoku"), so she has a broader point of view on this topic. Through her experience, we could also get a deeper understanding on the usage of the ingredients and their health effects. It was a pleasure to meet her and participating on this experience. I would warmly recommend to all food lovers and enthusiasts! (The location is within reachable distance of many famous sake breweries and also not far from the Fushimi-inari shrine. So you can schedule nicely into your plans.)

We had an absolutely incredible time on the ramen tour! 🍜✨ Honestly, it was one of the most fascinating and memorable experiences of our lives! Akiko-san is such a warm, cheerful, and welcoming person, and her family is just as wonderful. From the very beginning, she made sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged. She speaks English very well and explains everything thoroughly, making the experience enjoyable and easy to follow. One of the highlights of the tour was visiting a small, authentic noodle factory, where we got to see firsthand how ramen noodles are made! It was amazing to watch the process up close and even more exciting to choose our own fresh noodles straight from the machine! 🍜🤩 Learning about the history of ramen added an extra layer of appreciation, and we were surprised by how much we didn’t know before! Beyond the ramen itself, what truly made this tour special was the atmosphere Akiko-san created. The entire day was filled with laughter, joy, and genuine Japanese hospitality! She went above and beyond to make sure everyone had an unforgettable time. This tour is truly special, and we strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something unique in Japan! 🇯🇵✨ It’s more than just a food tour—it’s a deep dive into the culture, history, and heart of ramen, guided by someone who is truly passionate about sharing it with others! 🥰

Akiko-san is a super friendly guide! At first she took us to the ramen noodle factory, owned gby her brother. He explained with so much details about how is noddle making process and he was very patient to answer all of the questions. We also made and choose which noodle we want for our ramen! After the factory experience Akiko-san took us to her home and we prepared with her help all the meal! She was explaining all the ingredients and teaching us how to make them. We also got to know her family as well. They are super friendly and they welcomed us as she did. I had this heartwarming feeling because it was my first time getting in a japanese home and having this unique experience. I'm grateful and appreciated a lot this moment because I got to know a little bit more about japanese cuisine, culture and daily life in a new perspective.Since it's quite private experience and not touristic one, I felt more comfortable and I believe I've enjoyed it way more than any other average tourist "must visit/do" one. I'm totally recommend anyone want to have a more chill and super immersive moment in japanese culture.

It was a wonderful experience. Seeing the entire process and how it’s done was incredible. Akiko San’s brother was very patient in explaining everything at the factory. Later, at Akiko San’s house, we made ramen and gyoza. She was very kind and attentive throughout, and her family welcomed us warmly, along with their very cute dog. Thank you so much, Akiko San, for welcoming us into your home and teaching us about Japanese cuisine. It was clear that you love what you do ❤️.

Discover the Best Pescetarian and Tofu Delights in Japan

Japan is a nation renowned for its rich culinary traditions, offering an abundance of unique and flavorful dishes. For those following a pescetarian diet or seeking tofu-based options, Japan offers a treasure trove of experiences that cater to these preferences. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor, exploring the world of pescetarian and tofu dishes in Japan promises an unforgettable gastronomic journey.

Explore Delicious Pescetarian Dishes

Pescetarian diets focus on plant-based meals combined with seafood, which fits naturally into Japan's culinary landscape. The country's extensive coastline provides a plentiful variety of fresh seafood. In cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, you can find restaurants offering beautifully prepared sushi and sashimi, made with the finest cuts of fish. Grilled mackerel, often served with a side of daikon radish, is a popular and healthy choice, capturing the simple yet profound flavors of Japanese cuisine.

Meanwhile, udon noodles with seafood tempura offer a comforting and savory meal that is both satisfying and nutritious. The lightness of the tempura pairs perfectly with the chewy texture of the noodles, making it an ideal dish for any meal. Additionally, dishes like miso soup, often accompanied by clams or other shellfish, offer a warm and nourishing option that's packed with umami flavors.

Savor the Versatility of Tofu Dishes

Tofu is a staple in many Japanese dishes, celebrated for its versatility and health benefits. It's a prime ingredient in a variety of dishes, from cold appetizers to warm soups. Yudofu, a simple and heartwarming tofu hot pot dish, is particularly popular in Kyoto. This dish is not only nourishing but also highlights tofu's ability to absorb the flavors of its accompanying ingredients like kombu, a type of seaweed.

Another must-try is agedashi tofu - lightly fried tofu served with a savory dashi sauce, offering a delicate balance of textures and flavors. For those seeking something refreshingly light, cold tofu known as hiyayakko is an excellent choice. It's typically garnished with scallions, ginger, and soy sauce, making it a perfect appetizer or side dish.

These pescetarian and tofu food experiences in Japan are sure to satisfy your palate while also introducing you to the country's incredible culinary heritage. Whether you're enjoying a traditional meal in a local izakaya or indulging in upscale dining, Japan's offerings are diverse and suited to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences.
