I cant recommend this tour enough! We went for food that you would never find on your own. And then went on a walk to see some beautiful historic sights and take photos without the crowds. Fantastic food, fantastic conversation, fantastic scenery. What more could you ask for? 100% would do it again!

Our group had so much fun with Yuka and her associates. All of the prep work was done ahead of time so that we were ready to go when we got there. She took care to make sure it was a positive experience for everyone. While the food was beautiful, it seemed possible to prepare it in a home kitchen as long as you have access to the ingredients. We communicated easily in English. You do a lot of forming the final products, but not as much of the actual cooking, so it is a little less hands on than some classes I have been to in the past. However, I don't think it would be possible to make so many dishes in just 2.5 hours otherwise. Yuka does send a Google Maps address ahead of time. It is the correct one as a sort of demonstration kitchen of the restaurant. It is not, however, the actual restaurant, so don't get confused and go to the wrong place.

We had so much fun eating and drinking our way through the local hotspots feeling like we were one of them. Hero was a wealth of knowledge and such a lovely host we felt like one of his Friends being shown his favourite restaurants while visiting. Will 100% be on another tour when we return. Can't recommend him high enough.

Explore Gluten-Free Delights in Kyoto

Embarking on a journey through Kyoto, you are met with ancient temples, serene gardens, and a culinary landscape that is as diverse as it is delectable. For those who maintain a gluten-free diet, Kyoto’s food scene offers a rich tapestry of flavors and experiences. From traditional Japanese dishes to innovative modern cuisine, gluten-free food experiences in Kyoto provide a taste adventure that respects dietary needs while delighting the palate.

Traditional Japanese Cuisine Without Gluten

Discovering gluten-free options in Kyoto does not mean missing out on the authentic flavors that define Japanese cuisine. Mosos (wrapped in bamboo leaves) and yuba (tofu skin) are just a couple of traditional dishes that naturally fit the gluten-free lifestyle. Many restaurants here cater to those who are gluten intolerant by providing gluten-free soy sauce or using rice flour as a substitute in their recipes. The city’s dedication to culinary inclusiveness ensures that local favorites like sushi and sashimi, naturally gluten-free, are prepared with special attention to avoid cross-contamination. Seasonal ingredients are a hallmark of Kyoto cuisine, and you can expect fresh, gluten-free vegetables, and rice-based dishes that celebrate the bounty of each season.

Innovative Gluten-Free Dining Experiences

In addition to traditional fare, Kyoto's dining scene has embraced the growing demand for gluten-free options with innovation and creativity. Modern eateries in the city are pushing the boundaries by crafting unique gluten-free menus that highlight local ingredients and fusion styles. Whether you're in the mood for a gluten-free tempura made with alternative flours or a dessert showcasing Kyoto's famous matcha in a soy-based gluten-free cake, the options are as varied as they are delicious. Some establishments even offer cooking classes where you can learn to craft your own gluten-free Japanese meals, providing a hands-on experience that enriches your visit and culinary skills.

Kyoto's blend of tradition and modernity in its culinary offerings makes it a perfect destination for gluten-free diners looking to experience a rich tapestry of tastes without compromising their dietary needs. Each meal can be an explorative foray into the harmonious balance of flavors, textures, and presentations that Japanese cuisine is famed for, all while remaining gluten-free. Whether you’re a seasoned gluten-free eater or embarking on this dietary path, Kyoto’s gluten-free food experiences promise to satisfy and impress.
