I had a very enjoyable and educational cooking class at Yuka's home. Everything was explained well, including the background of Shojin Ryori. The visit to the supermarket afterwards was also a real added bonus. Thank you, Yuka, for the wonderful day in your kitchen.

Learning to cook was the objective, Miss Yamakasi made it an unforgettable experience. Connecting and bonding through food and the preparation thereof was everything I'd hoped for. Would happily recommend!

Yuka's class was fantastic! She provided cultural context on shojin ryori traditions which helped bring special meaning to our cooking. I got SO many helpful, practical tips for cooking each element of the meal that I'm so excited to replicate at home. I'm definitely planning on taking more of her classes when I return to Japan in the future.

It was such a great experience getting to meet Yuka-san and learn how to make several different Shojin Ryori dishes. She is a fabulous teacher and the food we made together was absolute delicious. I only hope that I can make several of these dishes by myself and have them taste as delicious as what we made together. If you have any interest in learning to make Japanese vegan/plant based dishes, then I would suggest you definitely take this class from her.

Very nice experience! Yuka-san was able to adjust the menu to my request (I wanted to try making sesame tofu) and taught me a lot about shojin ryori. Afterwards we went to the supermarket and she helped me to pick up the things I wanted to buy and take home with me. Thank you! ありがとうございます!

Yuka-san was an incredible and gracious hostess! My girlfriend and I learned so much and really enjoyed the peaceful and intimate atmosphere of our lesson. Shyōjin Ryōri is a beautiful art that encourages mindfulness, sustainability, and results in delicious food. I recommend Yuka-san’s lesson to anyone who wants to learn about Buddhist tradition, mindful cooking and gain peace of mind. She was so accommodating to our taste preferences and was able to make a last minute change to the recipe when we forgot to mention an allergy. We appreciated Yuka-san’s efforts to use seasonal vegetables. Additionally, her husband was incredibly kind and they have an adorable little finch that joined us for dinner! This was such a memorable experience and we highly recommend taking a cooking lesson with Yuka-san!

I enjoyed Yuka-san's cooking class a lot and would recommend it to anyone interested in Shojin Ryori, vegan cuisine or just good, healthy food in general. Yuka-san is a very sweet and calm person and answered my questions thoroughly. The food we prepared together was a feast for all senses - beautiful-looking and full of distinctive flavors, not to mention very tasty.

Yuka was an excellent host and instructor. She took her time to make us feel welcomed and to teach us about the dish and the ingredients. She kept us involved during the cooking process, and we had a lovely chat during the cooking and during the meal itself. I enjoyed the relaxed and cozy setting, and would highly recommend her class for anyone interested in low pressure, peaceful, and enjoyable lesson.

Enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine The area where the host lives is a quiet residential area in Tokyo where you can feel the real Japan. There is a traditional Japanese temple within walking distance, and the shopping street where locals shop is lined with many foods that Japanese people usually buy. She will teach you Shojin Ryori, a traditional Japanese dish. No chemical seasonings are used, and the gentle seasoning allows you to enjoy the original taste of vegetables. I think it's a great dish if you're vegan. You can feel like a Japanese chef when you serve your food on beautiful Japanese tableware. She is a good conversationalist, teaches you cooking steps at a good pace, and even you can offers an optional ingredient shopping tour. They are very kind people and you will love them too. It's also adorable to see the cute little birds Peter happily singing while cooking.
