It was super fun! The class was easy enough to not feel intimidated. The teacher spoke enough English to give us clear instructions. I made the ramen and my child made the parfait. If you mess up on the parfait, the teacher can help you correct the design. It was down pouring that afternoon, and the teacher wrapped up our take home packages in plastic bags to make sure nothing got wet - super smart! The downside is the location was hard to find. It was nowhere near tourist areas. Also, the classroom was quite small, so if it was crowded, it would not have been as much fun. Luckily, there were a total of 4 students, so it felt manageable.

We had a great time at this food sample workshop! We were lucky to have been able to reserve a spot only a few days beforehand when we were looking up possible places to do this. We signed up to make ramen bowls. It's a small little shop that had tables set up for different stations depending on what food sample you were making. At other tables there were kids making cute little parfait desserts. My son and I had our own table. Our teacher, Ryo was awesome! He spoke some English and then used an ipad with Google Translate when he needed to explain more details or complex sentences. He was super nice and patient and very good at teaching us what to do. He gave a brief history of food samples and different techniques and then patiently instructed us through all the steps to make our ramen bowls. The bowls consisted of the soup, a piece of pork, a few bamboo shoots, some spinach and of course the noodles. And they came out beautifully! They look very real! He packaged up our bowls very securely in sturdy boxes with a little informational paper that talks all about food samples and their history and their application and relevance today. So the boxes were handy to pack up in our suitcases to travel back home. We also did a little shopping as they had cute little food sample keychains and charms available with tiny sushi and pieces of fruit. All in all we had such a wonderful experience and are so glad to have found this place! Thank you so much Ryo!!
