Making Nerikiri with Satoko was one of the highlights of my trip! She is so capable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, and is gracious enough to hold the class in her beautiful home. The class was easy to get to on the train with a short walk from the station. I learnt so much about wagashi and nerikiri making and I can’t wait to make some at home. Thank you Ogawa-san! I had a beautiful time.

We had a fantastic time at our tasting thanks to Hayato, the man who led our experience!! He was very knowledgeable and generous with his time, including sharing recommendations for bars and things to do during the rest of our stay. We had a lot of fun learning about the history of Japanese whiskey and experiencing the nuances in taste among the different makers and bottles. Would highly recommend!!!

For a more contemporary take, explore tea tastings and pairings that introduce you to a diverse range of Japanese teas—from the robust and earthy sencha to the delicately sweet genmaicha. Tokyo's innovative culinary scene offers opportunities to taste teas that are paired with delicious Japanese confections like mochi or dorayaki, highlighting how different flavors complement each other and enhance the tasting experience.

These tasting sessions are often led by knowledgeable tea sommeliers who guide you through the subtle flavor profiles and brewing techniques, offering insights into how to appreciate the complexities of each variety. Whether in a cozy tea house or a stylish modern café, these tasting sessions are a delightful way to explore new flavors and gain a deeper appreciation for Japanese tea.

As you embark on these delicious journeys through Tokyo's tea culture, you'll come to understand why tea is so integral to Japanese life.
