Andres led an unforgettable journey through Kyoto's Gion district and it’s culinary wonders with the Nighttime All-Inclusive Local Eats and Streets, Gion and Beyond tour. At every stop, his knowledge of Kyoto’s history provided an informative glimpse into this great city. Also his knowledge and passion for food and local culture shone through. From indulging in melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef and flavorful bonito tataki to savoring delicate tofu appetizers and fresh sashimi, each dish was a culinary delight. Andres expertly guided us through the bustling streets of Gion, introducing us to hidden gems and authentic flavors at every turn. The regional Nihonshu tasting was the perfect finale to an evening filled with delicious discoveries. Andres' knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm made this tour an absolute highlight of our trip. Highly recommended for anyone eager to explore Kyoto's hidden food scene beyond the tourist hotspots!

What an amazing experience! We had such a fun time with Ryo, our guide, who showed us around her home town of Kinomoto. One of our desires for our trip to Japan was to get out a bit from the city and explore/experience the more ‘authentic’ version of the country - this tour wonderfully checked that box. Ryo introduced us to a number of humble yet powerful local women in the area that brew soy sauce and sake, and even introduced us to a fermentation master at a local Temple! One of the women we were introduced to is one of the first female Sake brewers in Japan and the first female brewer in 13 generations (490 years)!!! We also learned how small of a world it really is - our guide studied abroad during high school and went to the school right near my wife’s childhood home. Having studied abroad, Ryo’s English was naturally excellent, so it made communicating with those we were introduced to on our tour so much more fruitful and informative. Thanks so much for the opportunity to experience Kinomoto!
