Shodoshima Island has many attractions to keep you exploring. It is famous for the Setouchi Triennale, a modern art exhibit located across twelve islands and two ports. This art festival has been hosted since 2010 and has been held triennially.
Shodoshima Island is also home to Angel Road, a 500 meter long sandbar that appears only twice a day when the tide is low. Many couples come here due to the legend stating that if you hold hands while walking down the road with your loved one, your wishes will come true.
Ghibli fans are sure to enjoy Shodoshima Island since Hayao Miyazaki’s Kiki’s Delivery Service” is based on the location. Feel free to take out a free rental broom and shoot some pictures around Shodoshima Olive Park. This park is a must-visit destination with a number of attractions such as the herb garden and olive museum.
