Mount Kinka is located at the heart of Gifu city, making it the perfect place to get a panoramic view of the area. Start off your day at the base of the mountain where you can enjoy Gifu Park. The park has several museums, statues, multiple Japanese gardens, and a beautiful three-story pagoda. The Nawa Insect Museum, the largest insect museum in all of Japan, is a must-visit. Founded in 1919, the museum contains over 300,000 specimens and 12,000 species of insect.

Mount Kinka is also a great hiking location with multiple hiking trails you can choose from. The hike is not too challenging, but it is recommended to come prepared as it is quite steep. As you hike up the mountain, stop and appreciate the nature around, including the unique rock formations and chirping birds. At the summit awaits Gifu Castle, where you can learn more about the area’s history. Take a break at the restaurant and grab souvenirs at the gift shop. End your visit at the Squirrel Village, where you can feed the little creatures and learn about their life on the mountain.
