There are so many things to see and do in Kyoto, it can be a little overwhelming! So take a break from the busy sightseeing spots of the city to experience the zen of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Located near the popular site of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, its convenient location makes it a great place to slow down and enjoy a quiet moment.
Before the ceremony, the host will give a brief overview of the rich history and cultural significance of the tea ceremony. You’ll enjoy a seasonal sweet and learn how to prepare your own bowl of matcha using a bamboo whisk. You’ll learn all about the different steps of the ceremony. The quiet ceremony and delicious matcha will leave you feeling peaceful and refreshed.
To enjoy a more immersive experience, kimono rentals are available. There’s even an option to dress as a geisha or a samurai! You’ll look the part while enjoying the ceremony, and can take photos that will make a great souvenir of your time in Kyoto.

We are located on Ninenzaka, down a small alleyway next to the Studio Ghibli store. Detailed access info will be shared in the booking confirmation.
Remarks
Photos without flash are allowed. No videos are permitted during group tea ceremonies. For videos, please book a private ceremony.
If you are interested in renting a kimono, geisha or samurai outfit, please inform us in advance so we can arrange an appointment for you. Please note that this is an additional fee.
