Enjoy a wide range of Japanese dishes, like Yaeyama soba, at Wahutei, a family restaurant on Ishigaki Island.
We strive to be as accurate as possible and keep up with the changing landscape of Japan’s food and travel industries. If you spot any inaccuracies, please send a report.
Wahutei is a family restaurant on Ishigaki Island with a wide range of Japanese dishes that are popular among the locals. There are both tatami rooms and tables, and the place is crowded with islanders. You can find different Japanese dishes here, such as sushi, Japanese soba noodles, pork cutlets, yakiniku (grilled meat), and seafood dishes. If you are not sure about what to eat, the Yaeyama Soba Set is recommended, as it is a local dish that’s mainly served in the Yaeyama region which includes Ishigaki Island. The preparation method is the same as that used for ordinary Okinawa soba, but the noodles are thin and straight with no shrinkage, and some are colored yellow with turmeric or gardenia pigment.
