I had a great time learning how to make bento containing onigiri, karaage, tamagoyaki, along with some vegetables. I have very little experience with cooking, but Yuki-san was very patient and helpful, and made sure that I did most of the work myself so that I could properly learn the process. She explained the recipe for each part of the bento, how and where the recipe can vary between families, and why she makes the choices she does. She clearly has lots of experience and was able to condense it so that I could understand. The kitchen was very large and clean. It can easily hold multiple people at once. All of the ingredients were beautifully prepared ahead of time, along with printed copies of the recipes. After cooking all the food, Yuki-san helped me in preparing and decorating the bento box which I then ate out of to finish the day. The food was very good despite me making it. The flavors were very simple and delicate as Yuki-san explained is common in Japanese food. The food tasted very clean and fresh, even the fried karaage. Yuki-san is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about cooking and sharing her culture through food. Her English is very good and I was able to clearly understand and communicate with her. Her recipes are also very thoughtful and delicious. She even gave me a small gift of a Japanese-style kitchen towel before I left. I definitely would like to attend another of her classes again in the future, and would highly recommend attending!

I cant recommend this tour enough! We went for food that you would never find on your own. And then went on a walk to see some beautiful historic sights and take photos without the crowds. Fantastic food, fantastic conversation, fantastic scenery. What more could you ask for? 100% would do it again!

Our group had so much fun with Yuka and her associates. All of the prep work was done ahead of time so that we were ready to go when we got there. She took care to make sure it was a positive experience for everyone. While the food was beautiful, it seemed possible to prepare it in a home kitchen as long as you have access to the ingredients. We communicated easily in English. You do a lot of forming the final products, but not as much of the actual cooking, so it is a little less hands on than some classes I have been to in the past. However, I don't think it would be possible to make so many dishes in just 2.5 hours otherwise. Yuka does send a Google Maps address ahead of time. It is the correct one as a sort of demonstration kitchen of the restaurant. It is not, however, the actual restaurant, so don't get confused and go to the wrong place.

We recently took part in a fluffy pancake cooking experience, and it completely exceeded my expectations! From start to finish, it was not just a cooking session—it was a joyful, hands-on experience filled with laughter, delicious aromas, and of course, the fluffiest pancakes I’ve ever tasted. Tomoko was welcoming, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient, guiding us through every step of the process with clear instructions and helpful tips. We learned how to get that perfect rise, the ideal golden colour, and a melt-in-your-mouth texture that made every bite feel like a cloud. The ingredients were fresh, and the pace was just right for both beginners and seasoned home cooks. We especially appreciated Tomoko going above and beyond to create an amazing experience from the scenic journey through a local temple, to personally guiding us to a local store in a neighbouring town to purchase matcha, and the stack of yummy food suggestions for our other Japan destinations! By the end, not only did I walk away with a stack of picture-perfect pancakes, but also with new skills and confidence to recreate them at home. Highly recommended for food lovers, families, or anyone looking to add some sweetness to their day!
