At the heart of Japan's capital, a ten-minute walk from Tamachi Station, lies a Chinese restaurant that uses Japanese ingredients, creating dishes that allow the flavors of each component to sing. Particularly focusing on Cantonese cuisine, Mitamachi Momonoki's restaurant concept is simple — in fact, it is simplicity itself.
Seasonal ingredients play a part in the flavors of the dishes, and as there is a strong emphasis on vegetables, fresh produce from Kyoto including carrots, mibuna, leaf mustard, and other vegetables. These are combined with ingredients that can only be sourced from China, for an authentic streak which sets their dishes apart.
Every menu item complements the others. That's the fundamental idea underpinning Mitamachi Momonoki’s course menus. The sweet and sour pork has undergone meticulou experimentation to come up with the perfect recipe that goes well with everything else, including shellfish and other seafood.
